This insightful presentation highlights the stories of Ethiopian international adoptees.
The event will feature a short documentary following Amsalech Burke as a child in an orphanage in Addis Ababa, alongside a conversation with Lidet O'Connor, an Ethiopian adoptee and founder of the "Ethiopian Adoptees - Unapologetically Unfiltered" podcast. This event aims to uplift Ethiopian adoptee voices and create a space for others to share their stories.
About Amsalech Burke
Amsalech Burke is an African Studies and Broadcast Journalism double major at Howard University. Adopted from Ethiopia in 2008, she was raised in a small town in northern Washington State. Amsalech aims to raise awareness about the trauma of international adoption and educate communities on supporting adoptees by hosting events addressing misconceptions about transracial adoptions.
