About The Event
About the film
Lynden follows Amsa through her final year of high school as her racial justice march sparks deep divisions in her small town. Among the cast is Wylin, a Christian Nationalist documenting the conservative movement. Though they never formally meet, their paths cross, highlighting the ideological divide. As tensions rise towards the 2020 election, Lynden captures a town at a crossroads, grappling with identity, race, and healing.
About Amsalech
Amsalech Burke is pursuing a double major in African Studies and Journalism at Howard University. In 2008, she was adopted from Ethiopia to a small town in northern Washington State. She aims to educate others on the misconceptions of adoption that disproportionally credit the adoptive parents. Caring deeply about the needs of adoptees, she wants to encourage them to reunite with their birth families and culture. She hopes to create spaces for conversations with other adoptees.
