About the Book
Published in 1997, the seminal work, Eine Afro-Deutsche Geschichte, is the first text published in Germany to address the various aspects of the African/Afro-German experience in Germany from the era of imperial colonialism to National Socialism to contemporary times. The author, historian-activist Katharina Oguntoye, presents the struggles, suffering and triumphs of Africans and Afro-Germans from 1884-1950; she also analyzes the forgotten or ignored topic of the legacy of White supremacy. The English translation of Oguntoye's remarkable monograph makes this invaluable work available to a much wider audience.
